Personal Efficiency Tips

Learn to treasure your time. It’s limited. Remind yourself that there are two ways to excel in your productivity: choose the best strategy and boost your personal efficiency.

10 minutes of panning might double your productivity.

” If I had six hours to cut down a tree I’d spend the first four hours sharpening the axe.” – Abraham Lincoln

Plan your day in advance. Before rushing into traffic or daily routines take some time in the morning to go through your daily tasks and decide when what will you do. 10 minutes are enough. Be as precise as possible. Experts claim such planning may double your productivity.

Prioritize. Put important things first.

As Stephen Covey says “First things first”.

Invest fresh energy in things that really matter, in really important things not urgent ones.

Important activities lead us to achieve our goals. They often require planning, organization, and initiative.

Urgent activities cause us to react. They demand immediate attention and are usually associated with achieving someone else’s goals. Urgent things are often the ones we concentrate on because the consequences of not dealing with them are immediate.

Please keep in mind that what is important is seldom urgent and what is urgent is seldom important.

Pick one top-priority job for the day.

Ask yourself:

What’s the top priority task?

What’s the difference that would make a big difference?

What’s the one job that would best support your business or your career?

Get clear on this. If you do it every day for a month the outcome will be astonishing. How about three months? Six months? Year?

Rush unimportant tasks.

“What’s not worth doing is not worth doing well.” – Warren Buffett

Try to delegate or automate the unimportant tasks. Don’t practice your perfectionism on them. You can unlock huge amounts of time by rushing jobs that don’t matter much.

Uninterrupted blocks.

Please pay attention that the emphasis is on “uninterrupted”. Interruptions destroy efficiency.

Try to find a quiet place to work uninterrupted. Avoid things that need to be done but don’t require specific skills. Ignoreinterruptions or distractions such as:

Answering the phone

Unnecessarily checking and responding to email

Unimportant meetings

Chatting with co-workers

Uploading posts

Social media

Internet surfing

Watching TV

Video games

The more you follow these simple tips, the more you’ll increase your personal efficiency.

Master the power of saying NO.
